Most smart-home security assumes a fast internet line, a stable router and a cloud account you trust. For anyone who cannot or does not want to rely on all three, a standalone alarm system answers a simple question: how do you get alerted when the network is exactly what fails?
The SchutzAktiv Exklusiv is engineered and built in-house by WE Elektronik in Norden, East Frisia, around one deliberate decision – the alert travels over the cellular network, not your home Wi-Fi. There is no router in the signal path, no manufacturer cloud that has to stay online, and no app you are forced to install. In an emergency the control panel simply calls the numbers you have stored and follows up with an SMS, backed by its own power reserve so a cut mains supply does not silence it.
For an international readership this design solves two very different problems at once. On the practical side, it secures properties that were never meant to have broadband: an off-grid cabin, a second home owned by someone living abroad, a barn or workshop with no line to the building. On the privacy side, it appeals to buyers who take data protection seriously – there is no cloud account logging when you come and go, so information about your home stays with you rather than on a server in another country. Independence from the internet, it turns out, is as much about control over your data as it is about reliability in an outage.

How a standalone alarm system raises the alert
Instead of relying on your home network, a standalone alarm system takes its own route: it uses the mobile network – the same network every phone calls over. To do this, a dedicated GSM module with its own SIM card is permanently built into the control panel. Wi-Fi, a router or an internet connection are simply not needed.

Does the alarm system work completely without internet?
Yes. SchutzAktiv Exklusiv alerts via a permanently built-in GSM module, that is, over the mobile network – just like a phone. A DSL or fibre connection, a router or Wi-Fi are not required for this. All you need is sufficient mobile reception at the location. This means the system also works at properties with no fixed internet connection at all.
Do I absolutely need an app?
No. Operation is deliberately kept simple and works without a smartphone app and without a user account. In the event of an alarm, you and all the contacts you have stored are called directly and informed by SMS. So you do not have to install an app, keep up with updates or remember a password in order to stay protected.
What happens if the Wi-Fi fails?
Nothing – the system keeps working exactly as before. Because it does not rely on Wi-Fi or a router in the first place, a failed home network cannot hold up the alert. Even if an intruder deliberately cuts the internet line or the provider has an outage, the alert still goes out over the independent mobile network.
Is my data stored in a cloud?
No. There is no cloud account where your recordings or movement data end up. The control panel works independently on site and, in an emergency, reports directly to the phone numbers you have stored. That way, sensitive information about your home stays with you – a clear advantage for data protection.
Is it suitable for a holiday home without a connection?
That is exactly where a standalone alarm system is ideal. A holiday or weekend home often has no internet connection and stands empty most of the time. Over the mobile network you are alerted immediately even from a great distance. The only requirement is usable mobile reception – which we check in advance as part of the on-site consultation.
Can I still control the system via an app?
If you wish, yes. SchutzAktiv Exklusiv can optionally be operated via an app – that is added convenience, but not a requirement. The actual alerting runs over the mobile network regardless. Anyone who prefers to do without an app simply uses the system in the classic way. The predecessor model SchutzAktiv Pro offers the same optional app control and differs only in its housing.
Which mobile network does the system use, and what if reception is weak?
The control panel has its own permanently built-in GSM module with its own SIM card and connects over the public mobile network, much like an ordinary phone. It does not depend on any particular home-internet provider. The one thing it does need is usable mobile reception at the location – so before installation we check the signal on site as part of the free consultation and make sure the alerting will get through reliably.
Is a standalone alarm system a good choice for a property I own from abroad?
Yes. Because the alert arrives as a phone call and an SMS over the mobile network, you are reached on your own number wherever you are – no app, no account and no local internet required at the property. That makes a standalone system a practical way to keep watch over a holiday home, an inherited house or a second residence in Germany while you live elsewhere, provided there is mobile coverage at the building.
