An alarm system is only as good as its alert chain. And this very alert chain is at risk for many systems: mobile operators are gradually switching off the old 2G network. Alarm systems that send their calls and SMS via an old 2G module can then fall silent at the decisive moment – without anyone noticing.

What is the 2G shutdown about?

2G is the mobile generation over which calls and SMS ran for decades. It is being switched off step by step to make room for modern networks. For smartphones this is barely noticeable – for devices that rely solely on 2G it is the end of their connection. And this is exactly the problem for many older alarm systems.

Who is affected?

Keep a particular eye on systems bought before 2024. Many of them work with a pure 2G radio module. Once the network is switched off in your region, the system may:

  • no longer place calls in an alarm,
  • no longer send SMS to stored contacts,
  • and thus effectively trigger "silently" – the siren wails, but no one is notified.

The tricky part: the system appears completely normal in everyday use. The failure of the alerting is often noticed only when it's too late.

12.5% discount on your upgrade – until 01.01.2027

Anyone who decides now to upgrade or switch over receives a 12.5% discount. The offer is valid until 1 January 2027 and helps us manage the expected rush in an orderly way. The earlier you get in touch, the sooner you are fully protected again.

What you should do now

You don't have to assess this alone. We check for you whether your existing system is affected and show you the simplest path to a future-proof alert chain. In many cases your system can be modernised; where that's not sensible, you switch to the current SchutzAktiv Exklusiv – with a current GSM module and autonomous alerting to all stored contacts.

And if sensors are missing?

Should your property need additional components, we extend the system without difficulty: motion detectors, door and window contacts and more sensors are in stock – even though our infrasound technology rarely makes them necessary. For operation, key switches, code keypads and remote controls are available. Whatever you need is there.

Better to check now than find out in an emergency

An alarm system that reaches no one in an emergency is no protection. Let's take a quick look at your system together – honestly, without obligation and with a clear recommendation.
